Vyvanse Vs Adderall
Vyvanse and Adderall have many similarities but there is some important difference to be noted. I’ve put together a list that I have personally experienced and also obtained from others who have noticed differences between adderall and vyvanse.
Vyvanse Versus AdderallVyvanse is formed by an inactive form of D-ampehtaimes linked to lysine, which has to be digested by the body in order to be process and kick in. Because roughly 90 percent of the uptake takes place in the stomach through the blood, it has a lesser chance of being affected by your stomach acid. I find that Adderall XR gives lots of people stomachaches, including me.
Adderall’s active ingredient is amphetamine - dextroamphetamine and levoamphetamine
Vyvanse’s active ingredient is Lisdexamfetamine.
Adderall is used to treat: ADD, ADHD, narcolepsy and low grade point average.
Vyvanse is used to tread: ADD, ADHD and low grade point average.
Based on a 2011 USA study, prescriptions for people ages 10-19, had 1.6 million prescriptions for adderall as compared to a whopping 4.1 million prescription for Vyvnase.
Studies show that people who have taken Vyvanse for a year have a greater than 60% improvement from baseline ADHD symptoms.

It works by entering your body through your bodies digestive process, being quickly broken down and then absorbed.
Adderall XR is released by its time release and delayed digested beads inside the capsule. Some believe that Vyvanse is felt quicker that Adderall XR and that it is not as affected by other foods or beverages that you take. (I.E If you drink Orange Juice when taking Adderall XR it decreases its effects, because of the vitamin C in the juice lessens the effects of adderall).
Adderall can be taken in a tablet form or extended release capsule.
Vyvanse only comes in capsule form.
Generic prescription for adderall is available, it is not available for Vyvanse.
Vyvanse Costs More -- If you can get Adderall it will most likely be cheaper than vyvanse because there are generic brands. However, Vyvanse does not have any generic counterparts....yet…
Vyvanse is said to be 100 percent D amphetamines, opposed to Adderall XR which is a concoction of four different D and L amphetamines. If you take Adderall IR (the immediate release Adderall) you are pretty much taking the same thing as vyvanse.
Vyvanse lasts about 9 to 12 hours. It takes about 1 hour to 2 hours to fully kick in. Adderall XR takes roughly 30 minutes and lasts about 9 to 12 hours as well.
Vyvanse has been claimed that the one prescribed will not build up a tolerance when taking daily. This is promising because if a tolerance is supposedly does not build up even after a year, the likelihood of vyvanse being abused is lesser when compared to Adderall.
Adderall’s mixture creates a stronger pill, which gives you the “cracked” out feeling, which I like. Vyvanse is less noticeable and smoother.
I think overall there are still plenty mixed results. I prefer taking Adderall over Vyvanse, but many other disagree with me.
